Field of the Invention This invention relates to the field of ion-exchange resin catalyst systems, and more particularly to ion-exchange resin catalysts for preparing the dehydrogenation products of aromatic amines by way of an anhydride intermediate. 2. Description of the Prior Art The dehydrogenation of aromatic amines to the corresponding aromatic anhydrides is a well-known reaction. One of the best known reactions involves the dehydrogenation of p-phenylenediamine (p-PDA) to 4-aminophenol-4-phenylenediamine (APPD). APPD can be catalytically converted to the corresponding anhydride by dehydrogenation, in the presence of a catalyst containing copper on a resin or polymer support (a heterogeneous catalyst). The dehydrogenation reaction, which occurs at approximately 150.degree. C., is typically carried out in an ion-exchange resin solution (a homogeneous catalyst). The dehydrogenation reaction is shown in the equation below: ##STR1## It is desirable that any process for dehydrogenating amines to anhydrides use as few steps as possible.Jonathan Lewis He was born at Whitechapel, East London, the son of Edward Lewis, a cabinet maker, and his wife, Ann or Annie Burgess, daughter of Timothy Burgess. His early education was at the Foundling Hospital, then he was apprenticed to his father. He worked for several years as a jockey before he joined the Royal Artillery in 1803. He served for five years, retiring in 1810 and becoming a bookmaker in Clerkenwell. He changed his name to Lewis, and became a successful bookmaker and horse owner, marrying Ann Jones in 1813. He did well in business, but his wife died in 1819, and in 1820 he married Sarah Richardson. In 1823 he moved to the Newcastle area, taking over an existing business which he ran successfully. In 1824 he married for the second time, to Sarah Richardson, and took his stepson John Jones with him. He remained in the Newcastle area until 1836, when his horse Darby was sold for
